Since rolling into London Back in October 2004 Luka has made his mark on the London heavy metal / rock scene. Working relentlessley to do what he loves best.... ROCK!!!
He has fronted and formed heavy metal band "Cavalar" since they started back in 2004 and brought us albums such as "A Metal of Fact" and their most recent release "Recoil". They supported Richie Kotzen at the O2 Academy Islington back in November 2010 and blew the crowd away. Luka found his place on a big stage, exactly where he belongs. Luka is definately a front man of gigantic proportions and never fails to deliver high energy Rock and Roll. On a weekly basis he can be found singing with well known Camden heavy metal covers band "Metalworks" that has such a reputation that Luka was even joined on stage by John Norum - Europe guitarist to perfom The Final Countdown. Luka has very kindly taken the time to answer my rock blog questions and offer an insight into what got him started on this crazy path of Rock 'n' Roll. When did you first know you wanted to be a musician? how old were you? I wanted to be a musician since the day I first heard proper hard rock blaring out of my hi-fi when I was 8 years old. I had innocently stolen a tape (out of my uncle's cassette case). It was Deep Purple, "Made in Japan" a few minutes after playing it I was telling everybody that's it!! I wanna be a singer!! and this is what I want to do for the rest of my days. Who are your major influences? Is there anyone unusual that people that listen to your music wouldn't expect? Well as we all know you are influenced by the first bands you hear and grow up with, for me this happened to be Deep Purple, AC/DC and Ozzy from his Solo Career. I would say Ian Gillan has the biggest influence on me followed by Bon Scott and the already mentioned Ozzy Osbourne. I feel if you combine these 3 "elements"together you got me, with a big touch of my own personality. What are the biggest personal struggles you have encountered as an artist? How did you overcome them? There has been and there will always be personal struggle to deal with, especially now a days where being a musician and being considered an artist seems to be harder and harder then it used to be. Money has taken a big step on it! Which makes it harder for self produced bands to get out there. I think that there is only one way to overcome them. Stand back up, carry on, and rock 'til you drop. I feel I have no other choice. Of course love, passion and motivation in what you are doing are also 3 fundamental rules to consider.... When you write a song is there a particular process you follow or is it different every time? In my case I'd say it is different every time, sometimes it could be started from a guitar riff or some other times by singing in the street on the way back home. I could also write after hearing or seeing something that really touches me inside and many many more methods. It is basically a daily routine. I wake up in the morning and I find a lot of inspirations as I live my day to day life. What are your Top 5 bands that you would love to tour with & why? Well there are so many top bands I would like to tour with that I can't mention only 5 there is too many on my list! I will let you and the readers choose 'em for me! Hahaha... The reason I perfom is because there is nothing better in life than to go on stage and share every single moment with the band and people of your dreams, ain't it.... I can't thank Luca enough for taking the time to talk to me. Keep your eyes peeled for all things Cavalar. You can find them on http://www.myspace.com/cavalarrock and also buy their album on itunes! Luka is also fronting a new covers band called Queenworks celebrating the 40th Anniversary of queen, aswell as soon launching his new hard rock band "FUTURE SHOCK" who are currently working in the studio recording. They will be launching their brand new EP in September. You can get all the news on www.myspace.com/lucatwitch and www.youtube.com/user/twitchinrock . This is a new project as you all know, or do now! I am doing this for nothing more than my love of music and writing. So I hope you all enjoy it! In the coming weeks I will also be talking with Matt Pearce - fierce guitarist of Voodoo Six and also Lynne Jackaman - soulful songstress of Saint Jude fresh from High Voltage! So until next time! Keep Rockin' Chelle Xxx \m/ xxX
