The tour will see the band play to crowds of up to 10,000 a night in Luxemburg, Switzerland, Germany and Austria in support of their highly anticipated debut album ‘Don’t Wait Down’, due for release on Oct 21 worldwide. Originality, excitement, honesty and survival are all part of what makes a legend, and those qualities ripple through every song on West’s upcoming release. Since his historic performance with Mountain at the 1969 Woodstock Festival, West has enjoyed a glittering career spanning over half a century, accomplished in spite of a life threatening battle with diabetes, which cost him his right leg in 2011 (shortly before the release of his 'Unusual Suspects' album) "I’m lucky it wasn’t one of my hands or I’d be screwed," says West. "It was a difficult struggle, and after the amputation I didn’t know whether I’d ever want to or be able to perform again. A month later I played at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp in New York City, and I heard my guitar on stage and that was it. I knew I had to keep going." Looked upon by West as a sequel to 'Unusual Suspects', which featured collaborations with the likes of Slash, Zakk Wylde, Steve Lukather, Joe Bonamassa and Billy Gibbons, 'Still Climbing' sees West joining forces with Jonny Lang, Johnny Winter, Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider and Alter Bridge and Creed’s Mark Tremonti. It’s better than being a dead one.” Following their triumphant return to the top of the album charts with their first release with Ozzy in three-and-a-half decades, the band are being hailed by critics and fans alike. The CRROH Living Legend Award will be the icing on the cake of the Brummies’ all-conquering return. Joining Ozzy to collect the award will be fellow band members Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi. The Living Legend Award has become one of the most highly coveted awards in the music industry. It is only ever awarded to those artists who have truly cemented their place in the rock pantheon – with past winners including ZZ Top, Jeff Beck, Alice Cooper, Jimmy Page, Lemmy and Iggy Pop. This year Ozzy Osbourne picks up his second title – he won as a solo artist in 2008 – alongside his bandmates. Rock has hit the headlines even more this year with groundbreaking gigs and tours including the Rolling Stones returning to Hyde Park and headlining Glastonbury, Bon Jovi helping out the Spanish and European economies with cheap tickets on sale, Status Quo hitting the silver screen, Pink Floyd’s one million plays on Spotify and of course the unexpected return of David Bowie. This year’s Roll Of Honour will doubtless cause a few more headlines! MD of Team Rock Chris Ingham says: "It's been another amazing year for high-voltage rock'n'roll and Classic Rock is honoured to be hosting our annual awards show at the Roundhouse again. We're delighted to welcome Black Sabbath to collect our Living Legend Award. It's wholly deserved as not only do they have a career to celebrate, but Ozzy, Geezer and Tony blasted back with a brilliant new album in 2013 that reminded us all how it should be done. Rest assured, the Roll Of Honour will be another great night of rock'n'roll celebration and moving speeches, and will close with a live set from The Darkness that will no doubt need to be seen to be believed!" This year’s awards will again be held at the legendary Roundhouse in Camden, London onThursday November, 14 “THE RIDES” - the new all-star blues rock supergroup featuring guitarist Stephen Stills (Buffalo Springfield, CSN, CSN&Y), guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd and keyboardist Barry Goldberg (Electric Flag) release their debut album “Can’t Get Enough” on CD, digitial download, and vinyl in the UK on Monday 26th August viaProvogue Records. Produced by Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads), the generation-spanning trio has co-written originals and recorded covers of classics by Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Neil Young and Iggy and the Stooges. "Can’t Get Enough" was inspired by - and is an homage to - the now classic 1968 album Super Session, which featured Stills on guitar on one side, and the late Mike Bloomfield on the other (Bloomfield had founded Electric Flag with Goldberg, who also played on Super Session, as did Blood, Sweat & Tears keyboardist Al Kooper). Described by Stills as "the blues band of my dreams", the project began with Stills and Goldberg writing together at their mutual manager Elliot Roberts’ recommendation. "It was like finding a long lost soul brother" says Goldberg (who hadn’t met Stills before, their shared 1968 credit notwithstanding). "We connected on so many things, started jamming, and soon had begun writing our first song." When Kenny Wayne Shepherd arrived, The Rides’ three-way chemistry immediately clicked. "The Rides are a perfect mix of generations, where three musicians who love and play the blues collide and create music that goes beyond all our other individual life experiences and career achievement," says 35-year-old, Shepherd, who’s had six #1 Blues albums. "Stephen and I have rock backgrounds as well, but the blues is the fabric that holds this all together. That exhilarating creative sorcery blasts through ten tracks, four of them Stills, Shepherd, Goldberg co-writes, including the album-opening barnburner "Roadhouse" - about the life of an itinerant bluesman - the melodic, CSN-esque "Don’t Want Lies," and the title track, a groove soaked, guitar-heavy anthem with a soul-baring lead vocal by Stills. Other highlights include a Crazy Horse-calibre interpretation of "Rockin’ in the Free World". "Everyone gets off on this one," says Goldberg, "it’s just a ton of electricity on this Neil Young classic."
The Rides embark on a world tour beginning in September, with UK November dates to be confirmed in the coming weeks. Frontiers Records is pleased to announce Whitesnake's explosive new double live album “Made In Britain”/ “The World Record” –officially released in the UK on Monday 8th July. The 2-disc live set coincides with the news of Whitesnake's UK Arena Tour withJourney and Thunder which kicks off at Glasgow SECC on Saturday 18th May.
During 2011 the mighty Whitesnake embarked on one of their most successful world tours in recent times, performing 96 shows in over 35 countries, starting in North America in May right the way through until the 2nd UK run in December. The request for another live album came from Whitesnake’s loyal fans - never ones for being notoriously shy about insisting what they want from their favourite musical reptiles. Before heading out on the Forevermore World Tour 2011, the decision was made to record every performance on the tour. After spending the early part of 2012 feverishly editing and mixing the Whitesnake: Made In Japan live DVD, the production team had the task of listening back to over 90 shows and 130 hours of 100% raw, muscular Whitesnake performances. “Made In Britain”and “The World Record” were inspired by the performances from 9 sold out UK concerts and 87 performances from around the world.
