Capping off a triumphant year, Living Legend Award winners Black Sabbath also walked away with gongs for Album Of The Year for their ‘13’ Album and another award for Event Of The Year celebrating them hitting the #1 spot around the world including their biggest ever hit in the USA. AsLiving Legends, they join last year’s winners ZZ Top and past rock behemoths Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Alice Cooper and Iggy Pop. Now in its ninth year and housed at Camden’s Roundhouse, The Classic Rock Roll Of Honour once again lived up to the hype with awards going to the Class of 2013 in front of a venue rammed with their illustrious peers. Classic Rock Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Scott Rowley said: “This year's winners are a who's-who of British pioneers, from Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, the Stones and Fleetwood Mac winning the popular vote to John Mayall, Mott The Hoople and Wilko Johnson honoured in our special awards. And with the Temperance Movement and Virginmarys coming through there's still hope for the future of British rock too.” Manic Street Preachers founding member and guitarist James Dean Bradfield picked up the Musicians’ Union Maestro Award. TheVirginmarys were the winners of the Breakthrough Award The late Irish guitar legend Rory Gallagher was honoured with the Tommy Vance Inspiration Award. Legendary manager, film producer, humanitarian and friend to the stars, Shep Gordon was recognised with the VIP Award. For over 40 years, Shep has managed Alice Cooper and along the way has helped to sculpt the careers of a whole host of friends in the entertainment industry. SuperMensch, a film about Shep’s extraordinary career (directed by Mike Myers) is due out soon so this award is very fittingly timed. Winners from the five reader-voted categories were also announced through the evening. Best New Band went to The Temperance Movement. Album Of The Year went to ‘13’ by Black Sabbath, Band Of The Year went to The Rolling Stones, crowning the year that they played two nights at Hyde Park and headlined Glastonbury. Rock legends Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin were also winners picking up Re-issue Of The Year for‘Rumours – 35th Anniversary Edition’ and Film Of The Year for ‘Celebration Day’ respectively. Finally, closing the night with a red-hot performance, The Darkness walked away with the Showmen Award.
